FBRT Weekend Event ~ Peter Dawkins & Jill Line
Through Loss to Gain
The Wisdom of Shakespeare in ‘Much Ado About Nothing’
FBRT Weekend Event led by Peter Dawkins & Jill Line
4-5 August 2012
Falcon Hotel, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire
A weekend exploring the various levels of knowledge and wisdom in Shakespeare’s play, Much Ado About Nothing, led by Peter Dawkins and Jill Line.
Much Ado About Nothing is about initiation. The purpose of initiation is to lead us to illumination – the discovery and knowledge of truth. This truth is love. But however much we may think we know this supreme truth (and some people do not know it), we usually fall short in our knowledge and practice of it, especially when unexpected things occur which are misconstrued and which stir other less-loving emotions in us, such as jealousy and revenge.
The initiatory path to full illumination involves the psychological death of the proud, selfish, introverted, blind, jealous or possessive egoistic part of us, so that the better, more loving part can be ‘born’ or brought into manifestation. This path is not necessarily easy as there is so much to learn, so many temptations and tests to deal with, and so many levels or degrees to surmount. Basically, at whatever level of development we are at, we have to lose something in order to gain something better. The greater the loss might seem, the greater the gain could be. This play shows this path very clearly and is full of insights and instruction for us.
Included in the weekend is a Saturday evening performance of the play by the Royal Shakespeare Company in the Courtyard Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon and a pre-performance evening meal in a private room at the Avon Hotel close to the theatres. Theatre seats will be A* seats. The seminar will take place at the centrally-located Falcon Hotel. Numbers will be limited to 18-20 max. as per usual.
Overnight accommodation is not included in the seminar fee, but Stratford-upon-Avon has a great variety of accommodation to choose from if you should need or wish to stay there overnight, including the Falcon Hotel.
